Turkish violinist, began her violin studies at the age of eight with Prof. Nuri Iyicil and graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatoire in Istanbul in 1995.

Since 1997 she has been developing and pursuing her career as a soloist and has taken part in masterclasses both in Prof. Jean Fournier’s Salzburg Mozarteum Summer Academy and in Istanbul. Later she attended the Keshet Eilon violin masterclasses in Israel three years in succession, studying with Shlomo Mintz, Ida Haendel, Vadim Gluzman and Ani Schnarch.In 2003 she was invited to attend the same classes as an assistant teacher.

Halkaci Akin was invited to take in Maestro Claudio Abbado’s Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra for three years in succession, performing under conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Seiji Osawa, Pierre Boulez, Semyon Bychkov and Danielle Gatti at world famous music festivals and in major concert halls.

In Turkey, she has performed at the International Istanbul, Ankara and Eskisehir Music Festivals, has given recitals in many different cities of Turkey and has performed successful concerts accompanied by the Presidential Symphony Orchestra, the State Symphony Orchestras of Istanbul, Antalya, Bursa and Cukurova, as well as the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic, Cemal Resit Rey and Eskisehir Symphony Orchestras, ENKA Sinfonietta, and DESO, ASO, Mersin, Baskent and Borusan Chamber Orchestras. Outside Turkey she has given many concerts in the UK, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine, Israel, Georgia, Azerbaijan and the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus. In 2011 she attained the academic rank of Professor.

Halkaci Akin continues her active career as a soloist, as a professor at the Mimar Sinan Arts University State Conservatoire and as Leader of the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra.

Her first CD entitled “Journey” was issued in 2011 and the second one entitled “Journey to the Turn of a Century” issued in 2013. She plays a violin made by F. Ruggieri in 1675 (Cremona), by permission of Borusan Holding Company.
